water dredging/airlifting Explanation: http://www.mclink.it/assoc/assonet/arcart/anzio.htm E' stata eseguita la sorbonatura dello strato superiìciale di fanghiglia in un campo di 21x24 m., suddivisi in corsie contrassegnate da lettere dell'alfabeto e da numeri progressivi. http://www.itraboccanti.it/traboccanti/realizzati/anno2004/a... pulizia del fondo con grossi aspiratori (sorbone)operata da tre sub http://digcaesarea.org/divmanual.html#Anchor11996 Water Dredging This is the most common tool used to excavate underwater at Caesarea. A water dredge works as a suction device to remove sediment from the sea bed. Or if it's operated by air it's an airlift: http://www.abc.se/~m10354/uwa/glossary.htm Airlift A wide tube is lowered to the excavation site. Into the lower end of the tube compressed air is pumped from the surface. The air bubbles up and creates a suction. This pulls up water, sand, and small objects. All of this can be sifted on deck. http://www.weymouthdiving.co.uk/equipment.htm Unlike the airlift which uses air (and Boyles law) as its power source, the dredge uses a combination of water pressure and water flow from a powerful water pump to create the necessary suction at the nozzle. |
