Marketing - Media / Multimedia / footwear
Italian term or phrase: il consumatore ubiquo
Promoting a new application for iphone and ipod touch. The application allows iphone/ipod touch users to browse through different brands/styles of shoe, customise the shoe they desire (colour/materials) and purchase.

"Apple iPhone e iPod Touch sono i terminali mobili e di intrattenimento più diffusi e più alla moda del momento; sono nelle mani di milioni di consumatori in ogni parte del mondo, operativi ad ogni ora del giorno e della notte; sono lo strumento **del consumatore ubiquo** "

this is a marketing presentation, "Il consumatore ubiquo" also crops up as a tag line here and there.
Ubiquitous/omnipresent don't really sound right in the context. I was thinking along the lines of universal or global...
any thoughts?

global consumer
Explanation:
Definitely stay with your idea!
This is clearly a new sector, but one which is catching on fast, especially in the electronic/digital markets. This term is being used more and more frequently to describe just this type of consumer:

as in, the application used by consumers everywhere. Do you think the word 'everyone' could work? i.e. the application for everyone. Or "everyone's application".

the ubiquitous/location-independent consumer

Explanation:
I actually think 'ubiquitous' sounds quite good in this context, and there's plenty of Ghits for it as well. Otherwise 'location-independent' was a kind of buzzphrase in the IT company I used to work for. 'Wherever you are in the world, you can do it' is the gist, I guess. HTH.

pervasive consumer / buyer

Explanation:
Pervasive is the term used in the high tech industry to describe a device, technology found everywhere or with multiple potential applications.
Buyer is a good alternative to consumer. Buyer may be more US centric and less retail oriented than consumer though

Hope it helps

ubiquitous consumer

Explanation:
I really think you should reconsider ubiquitous. It sounds perfect to me. What immediately flashes to mind is an ad showing two cartoon characters in the middle of the desert (more ubiquitous than that) browsing their iphones to buy a pair of shoes. I don't think global or universal quite conjures up this meaning of the two words ubiquo and ubiquitous. I also imagine that the author was probably thinking a little in English when she/he wrote it.
