nominal free lift. Explanation: a the forks on a fork lift will raise a little to clear the ground and the inner frame to which they are attached does not lift out of its position. this is called "nominal free lift". When you have a "grande alzata libera" = full free lift, the forks will lift half way through the frame of the mast before the actual frame start moving. Useful when you are working in a container.
