Chiunque contraffà la carta filigranata che si adopera per la fabbricazione delle carte di pubblico credito o dei valori di bollo, ovvero acquista, detiene o ***aliena*** tale carta contraffatta, è punito, se il fatto non costituisce un più grave reato, con la reclusione da due a sei anni e con la multa da euro 309 a euro 1.032.

Straight up. In contrast to Arrigo, I don't think you can use the word alienate to mean sell in English. That is a false friend.

agree  Thomas Roberts: Technically, you can say alienate as well, but alienate in English is used much less frequenstly that alienare in Italian, so no need to complicate matters.
