I haven't a clue what this menas. Can anyone help?

In the following (an article about jewellery stores in Florence):

In un anno arrivano a Firenze quattro milioni di turisti. Quasi nessuno si fa mancare una visita al David di Michelangelo, alla Galleria degli Uffizi e al Ponte Vecchio. Un ponte che vanta origini antichissime e che dopo essere stato ricostruito nel 1345 ha resistito a guerre e alluvioni, come quella terribile del 1966. Per i turisti attraversarlo è diventato un rituale quasi obbligatorio, e un’occasione per scoprire **le ben 46** le oreficerie che dalle casette del Ponte protendono le loro vetrine come scrigni, formando un vero paradiso dello shopping di cose preziose.

Explanation:
"ben" in questo caso è un rafforzativo per far intendere che sono molte 46 gioiellerie....ma nel contesto è una parola assolutamente trascurabile, anche perchè si capisce che 46 gioiellerie su di un solo ponte sono tante. quindi, a parer mio, puoi ometterlo, anche perchè rende la frase un po' pesante.

agree  awilliams: assolutamente - ditch it: "...the 46 jewellery shops...". I agree that in this instance anything else would be too wordy. I'm not sure "as many as" really works here.
