Explanation:
In the first instance, I'd keep it vague and put something like "industrial system" (it seems that it refers more to industry at large than to machinery).
In the second sentence it might be more specific, but I'm not sure that it only refers to plants - it might be know-how, software, techniques... maybe "industrial infrastructure"?
It's just a guess, anyway.
