Italian term or phrase: byte più leggero
I'm translating a small manual on a Radio Frequency Identification reader as a favour for my brother-in-law. It's not at all my field so any help would be greatly appreciated!

"lower byte"
Explanation:
A Google on "byte più leggero" brings up this kudoz page and little else. Quindi: the author of this must be referring to the first byte in a two (or more) byte word. A byte is 8 bits and will give decimal numbers from 0 to 255, which is two to the power 8. If you want to work with bigger numbers you need two bytes put together which gives you 2 to the power 16 and allows you to work with decimal numbers up to around 64,000 (65.536) You read the bits on these two bytes from right to left and you start with the lower byte and then the upper byte. This is what he must mean by the "byte più leggero".
