provision made Explanation: "the provision made for the last year of work" "alternatively the sum set aside". However as I understand this it is purely an accounting operation (there is not necessarily any cash fund formed), recorded as a liability and charged to the income statement and as such is termed a "provision" under "UK" accounting practice, although Americans might term it a reserve. |
