core sampling Explanation: This seems to be one of those many words invented by Italian tech text writers - It appears to come from carotaggio which is to drill a core sample and then another prefix was added to come up with scarotaggio, to remove core samples, where a new suffix, which tends to mean an action of doing what is in the prefix or root was put in to end up with a newly coined word, scarottatura, as it has no hits in any of the references I could find. This is my take for what it's worth |
