From a description of a refrigeration plant:

The section is entitled:
"Fornitura materiale elettrico per cablaggio impianto relativo alla sezione quadro"

And the sentence is:
"Sono stati considerati tutti i materiali necessari alla realizzazione dei collegamenti tra il **bordo impianto** e il quadro "

And again:
"Sono stati considerati tutti i materiali necessari alla realizzazione dei collegamenti tra il **bordo impianto** e il quadro di distribuzione"

I am not sure if "bordo" used this way (rather than "a bordo") means the "edge" or "side" of the plant or else "onboard".

I did check the Kudoz glossaries, but they didn't clear up my doubt.

Dipende ovviamente dal contesto.
In questo caso desidero postare questa soluzione,poiché vedo un elenco lungo di soluzioni con solo "on-board"..
Credo invece che in questo caso sia più "lungo la macchina/impianto.
Il quadro, di fatti, non è mai sulla macchina, ma rigorosamente a terra.

Se parliamo, invece, di addestramento a bordo macchina è spesso:
on-site machinery training
Spesso si intende OTJ (on-the-job) training, poiché non necessariamente solo sulla macchina, ma anche a bordo macchina.

OTJ a volte viene usato anche per il training "off-the-job" durante il quale si trasferiscono le competenze teoriche, anche con simulazioni, ma non direttamente nel luogo dove è posizionata la macchina.
