State in the USA and elsewhere can be misinterpreted and just to control doesn't necessarily mean through a majority of the share capital (could be all of it, or it may not be a joint stock company. You might want to add "in the share capital". "Government" not prefixed by "the" technically in economics and accounting means local or central, but not to the lay man. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 27 mins (2008-02-27 18:28:45 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Uggh, I've just looked again! What does that "circa 50" mean, 49 or 51? You have to replace controlling with "majority" if it is 49. Technically speaking if it is 49 they've already privatised it. |
