Italian term or phrase: a seguito della
Il percorso di riforma...già avviato a seguito della Legge n° 59 del 15.3.1997...

Does 'a seguito' mean 'according to law...' or 'following law...'? Also, should the law maintain the same format in English, i.e. Law No. 59 of 15.3.1997.

Grazie mille!

Explanation:
I believe I'm right in saying that in Italian it can be used in the same way as the word "following", to imply either consequence (as in this case) or just chronological subsequence

I usually specify the nation where the law was passed, i.e. "Italian Law no. xxx of yyyy"
