Italian term or phrase: rosso corbezzolo
A plant typical in the area of the Cinque Terre in northern Italy, apparently producing scents you can smell as you walk along the paths. Finding other "corbezzoli" translated as "bearberries" I guessed at "red bearberry", which exists, but apparently in Asia and North America. Anyone know?

"Le grandiose falesie e le bancate di arenaria accolgono il visitatore dal mare; le macchie di pini e di castagni celano i sentieri, odorosi di thymus e di spartium junceum – la solare ginestra -, di *** rossi corbezzoli *** e di erica arborea."

Thanks for your help.

Arbutus unedo - Strawberry tree
Explanation:

Strawberry tree in English, though I might put the Latin name in too in brackets to avoid confusion/clarify - red strawberry trees (from the colour of the fruits?)

strawberry red

Explanation:
corbezzolo is a strawberry tree typical of the Maremma region and other regions around Italy so I deduct that rosso corbezzolo means strawberry red or the color of strawberries.
I have translated several guidebooks carrying these "corbezzoli" and have always translated the word this way.
