Italian term or phrase: animali sinantropi
This is from a text on the contamination of sandboxes in public areas. "Animali sinantropi" are not pets but the kind of animals that don't belong to humans but share space with humans like pidgeons, mice, rats etc.

I need the exact English term.
Many thanks!

synanthropic animals
Explanation:
Broad patterns in domestic vector-borne Trypanosoma cruzi transmission dynamics: synanthropic animals and vector controltransmission to humans. Here, we ask, (1) do synanthropic animals need to be targeted in Chagas disease prevention policies?, and (2) how does the presence of animals affect the efficacy of vector control?"

wild animals

Explanation:
You haven't said what kind of text this is, but unless it's a scholarly piece for zoologists, no one will know what synanthropic means.

neutral  Anthony Green: sorry Phil, just read your explanation, though wild animals may be a little too broad. Some more context would help

-> "The kind of animals that don't belong to humans but share space with humans like pigeons, mice, rats etc". I would call them wild animals.

feral animals

Explanation:
when describing animals which - as appears to be the case here - are descended from domesticated forebears, such as cats and pigeons, though this of course specifically excludes foxes and other urban wildlife such as hedgehogs, badgers etc. then the correct word is without doubt "feral", which is a technical word which I believe any layman interested in ecology would understand, whereas I feel synanthropic is far too technical.
Otherwise I would use "urban wildlife" I suppose
