kick-down Explanation: The 'traditional' way of getting into a low gear on an automatic gearbox, either for extra acceleration or to provide extra pull on a hill. The sense of the word 'blocco' would here seem to be, 'something which interupts the normal succession of gears', which aptly describes the kick-down process. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-06-02 17:28:29 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- On further research, I think that is wrong.
