Thanks Elena! It sounded unlikely to me at first that the word chassis doesn't appear in the English translation, but I had a good search on Google and "unitized body" does indeed seem to be the right term.
Thanks to Derek too. I found the site you mrentioned and a subsequent search for "ladder frame" led me to another that explains that a ladder frame has a certain number of cross members (makes sense!), so I'll use "cross member" rather than "side member", as suggested by Elena.
