• Non sono state volutamente registrate le valvole The tappets weren’t adjusted because.. Explanation: Hi Maria, The tappets are between the camshaft and the valves. As the cam turns it will push down on the tappet and open the valve, then turn more and let the valve return to its seat under the force of the valve spring. You measure the gap between the tappets and the valves with a feeler gauge. You normally adjust the tappet-valve clearance if there’s a noisy rattling sound when the engine’s running. There is normally a slightly bigger gap on the exhaust tappets because they get hotter so expand more to take up more play then the inlet ones. Most engines have hydraulic tappets nowadays that are self-adjusting. If self-adjusting tappets are noisy or the clearance is beyond an acceptable tolerance, you replace the tappets. If there is a reduction in the gap between the tappets and the valves this can cause the camshaft to keep the valves slightly open even when they should be closed and lead to a loss of compression and power. This can happen if the valve settles far into the valve seats. If this gets to an unacceptable tolerance you can remove shims from the tappets to bring the gap back to an acceptable tolerance. Tappet clearances are measured with the engine cold. |
