Asker: Credo che in questo caso si vogliano esprimere con un unico termine due concetti: uno appunto come dici tu, e' una maggiore visibilita', e l'altro e' una migliore accessibilita' avendo reso piu' agevoli le zone d'ingresso (inserendo ad esempio anche pedane per i disabili) ai siti archeologici.

Easier access


Explanation:
It probably means it is easier to get to, but the best way to do this is to read and translate the chapter first and then to the title and the contents.

In my experience, beginners tend to prefer literal translations because, not knowing the best translation, they feel safer with them.
So we should put that in the glossary because the client is a professional translator with many years of experience, or is there another reason? ;-)

Obviously, if your client insists, then you will have to use that translation, but that doen't mean you have to put it in the glossary. Having said that, "new accessibility" doesn't sound too bad, but please don't decide the kudoz "because my client wanted it".

Asker: Infatti e' proprio cosi. Credo che in questo caso si voglia esprimere un doppio significato. Uno e' legato all'accessibilita' in termini di accesso, ingresso vero e proprio, reso piu' agevole al pubblico, l'altro invece si riferisce alla valorizzazione dei siti, utilizzati per altri scopi (tipo per rappresentazioni teatrali, therme pubbliche, luoghi di passeggiate etc.) diventando cosi piu' attraenti e visibili per il pubblico.

Asker: Thank you very much for your help. Il cliente mi ha chiesto, nel caso specifico, di rimanere fedele all'italiano e di tradurre accessibilita' con "accessibility" ..." e cosi sia" :-)

Asker: Ma questo e' ovvio. Ripeto, ho deciso di usare questo termine nella traduzione dopo aver parlato con il cliente, ma ovviamente ho deciso di inserirlo nel glossario perche' ritengo che sia una soluzione possibile e non erronea per il termine accessibilita' , altrimenti non mi sarei mai permessa di inserirlo nel glossario, tantomeno se lo avesse suggerito il cliente :-) Siamo perfettamente d'accordo su questo punto :-)

Asker: Sono inoltre perfettamente d'accordo anche sulla tua prima osservazione. Avrei potuto sin dall'inizio tradurre il termine accessibilita' con accessibility" (come avrebbe fatto probabilmente un "beginner") ma se mi sono posta il problema, e' perche' ero alla ricerca di un termine che potesse esprimere al tempo stesso due concetti diversi. Ho poi deciso di rinunciare a tale ricerca dopo una conversazione avvenuta con il committente che ha sollevato valide ragioni, altrimenti mai e poi mai mi sarei piegata :-) Sapessi le lotte che facevo in passato sull'uso di una terminologia corretta quando lavoravo come editor e supervisor per una societa' di traduzione di manualistica di Amsterdam :-)
