I repeat, it's not literature 15:55 May 18, 2009
nor is it your common sense – no matter how good it may be: it's a rather technical matter and not a matter of "getting away with" this or that stylistic turn of phrase... (Hah, just was writing this and saw Enza's comment come in! But not preferable – obligatory). Try to follow what I'm saying: it's not whether they teach or not, but whether or not they have UNIVERSITY STATUS, damnation! It's a TECHNICAL matter pure&simple: University Hospitals have university status. Their permanent medical staff bear academic titles; they grant degrees, they are registed as academic institutions; and it's all in their statutes. A mere teaching hospital may be as closely associated with a university as a twin bro, yet without being part of the latter. There are teaching hospitals and there are university hospitals... and of course they teach. So, with the latter it's not "University" but "teaching" that's redundant. Okay guys, I ran out of steam and am rapidly turning into Greta Garbo...:) |
