The first register was published in Pest in 1803. Subsequently, some others were published with a title "Adressbuch", "Adress-Kalender", "Wegweiser", "guide" etc.

The most important of all such enterprises was the Budapest Adrress and House Register ("Budapesti czím- és lakásjegyzék") which was published between 1880 and 1928 by the Franklin Publishing Society (Franklin Társulat). This publication was in Hungarian, but part of the information and the indexes were still in German for some time. It is particularly reliable because it is based on credible data and census data from the Registry Office (Bejelentési Hivatal). Volumes contained records from 1882, which included the land number and the name of the owner of the property on the basis of the Lans Registry Office (Telekkönyvi Hivatal), the Municipal Engineering Office (Fővárosi Mérnöki Hivatal) and the district registries.
