I am told that tap = fever, as in "Doolally tap". However, I can find no trace of this word. If it is Hindi, please could you write it in Devanagari for me and give a precise translation.

  -> Taap is a Sanskrit word which exists in all Indian languages. Incidently, in Gujarati, fever is called "taav" which is derived from "taap" of Sanskrit. Gujarati for climate is "havamaan" not "taapman". The latter is "temperature".
