Finishing Explanation: First of all I looked at the definition of the word in the context of printing: "השבחה פעולות גימור של מוצר הדפוס לשם הבאתו למיטבו כגון ציפויים , סוגי לכה שונים, הטבעות והבלטות." http://www.orion-books.co.il/fq2_מילון-מונחים.aspx So, basically it's the finishing processes such as binding, coatings, embossing. The trouble is that in English, the term "finishing" is quite inclusive and includes all processes after the work has rolled off the press: "Finishing In printing, the term "finishing" is used to cover the operations that take place after the actual print run and lead to the finished printed product. However, this wouldn't be totally accurate in English IMO i.e. the inclusiveness of the English publishing term "finishing" should be respected/accepted. |
