x-ray monitoring Explanation: תחת שיקוף I would translate it as "under x-ray monitoring", looks like the whole medical procedure is monitored accordingly. I am not a doctor, though, I am just interested in medicine :). Hope this helps. Reference: http://www.ncbi.hlm.nih.gov/pubmed/4061788 |

fluoroscopy Explanation: sometimes procedures in the OR are performed under continuous x-raying = under fluoroscopy (in US medical lingo). orthopedic surgery may require operating under fluoroscopy (hopefully for very short periods of time). Usually, at the end of the report there should be a notation regarding the number of minutes the patient was exposed to the radiation, but not everyone is careful about noting that. In "older times", in Israeli medical lingo, an x-ray was called שיקוף as in: שיקוף חזה but this has been replaced by the modern: צילום חזה and שיקוף has come to mean - fluoroscopy. eytan |
