Memorial Room Explanation: Memorial Room is a common translation of חדר הנצחה The expression Ohel shem is not a common expression for this. There is a pun here. The Bible talks about the "the tents of Shem" - ohalei shem", Shem being the oldest of Noah's three sons. So, in a particular place, somebody thought this would be a cute name in Hebrew for a memorial room. I assume you are translating fund raising literature. I should not recommend trying to fit the pun into English. That sounds impossible, and even if you succeeded, it would be so convoluted that the main point, that this is a memorial room, would be lost. |
