It is the carton box they use to deliver the packed products to retailers, i.e. a carton box of 12 or 6 bottles of wine or a carton box of 12 packs of coffee etc.

I don't think, Rachel, that "χ/β" is a presentation pack, like a carton sleeve, but a secondary packaging, actually a carton box for stocking and transporting safely and easily the product.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Costas: I'm actually wondering if it's the sort of cardboard sleeve/envelope that often goes over the plastic vacuum pack - like it says here for the gravadlax http://www.macrae.co.uk/news/packaging.htm - do you think this could be "χ/β"?
