Greek term or phrase:

Any ideas how to translate καταβολές here? Is it simply features/characteristics, or am I missing something of the meaning?

Thanks

Referring to the definition in Triantafyllides quoted by PROSGR, especially στοιχεία που μεταβιβάζονται κληρονομικά, maybe you could twist the sentence slightly and write about Byzantine art's legacy?
