No entiendo y por tanto no sé como traducir la frase "was wenig zu ihm passen wollte". Tampoco entiendo de quién son las "lächeln".
Contexto: Bauer Leites hatte sich hochgearbeitet. Morgens um vier stand er auf und fütterte siebenhundert Schweine. Schwache Schweine stach er mit seinem Taschenmesser ab, was wenig zu ihm passen wollte, genausowenig, wie sich sein Lächeln mit den brennenden Ratten vertrug, deren Schreie für Wochen alle Artgenossen aus den Silos vertrieben.
