Esto parece más metafórico que técnico a pesar de que se trata de un artículo sobre motos. Por eso no entiendo qué quiere decir aquí "torre del Altántico". Parece que lo dicen con doble sentido, pero si es así, yo no lo capto:

"Schwere See in bergiger Landschaft. Als Thomas Müller aus Lünen nach zweieinhalb Jahren metallener Meditation wieder aus den Tiefen seiner Werkstatt auftauchte, watete er durch knietiefe Aluspäne und schob ein Eisen an Land, das an die Sehnerven brandet wie ein Atlantiksturm."

La gracia aquí está en que utiliza términos de la navegación y del mar para describir la situación. Entonces, al final llega a decir algo parecido a "... y arrastró un hierro (o amerizar si quieres usar un término más especializado) a tierra que rompía en los ojos (o la vista) como las olas de una tempestad en el Atlántico."

Sin embargo, esto es muy literal. Tal vez cabría pensar en cambiar romper en los ojos por algo parecido a "doler como cuando rompen las olas con fuerza".
