Se denomina cola o empenaje a la parte posterior de un avión donde (en las configuraciones clásicas) suelen estar situados el estabilizador horizontal (encargado de controlar el picado del avión) y estabilizador vertical (encargado de controlar la guiñada del avión usando el timón).
