Contesto (saggio letterario):

eine der bemerkenswertesten Unterscheidungen zwischen wirklichen und eingebildeten Krankheiten dürfte Italo Svevo in seinem 1923 veröffentlichten Roman La coscienza di Zeno getroffen haben. Sie besteht darin, daß Befund und Befindlichkeit in einem krassen Mißverhältnis zueinander stehen. Die wirklichen, lebensbedrohlichen Krankheiten machen sich nicht bemerkbar, und doch sind sie da. Sie breiten sich unaufhaltsam im Körper aus und setzen das körperliche Alarmsystem erst dann in Gang, wenn es zu spät ist.
