Es handelt sich um einen Begriff aus dem Modellbau. Modellflugzeuge mit geringer Motorleistung erkennt man daran, dass sie langsam und in geringer Höhe über die Wiese “schleichen”. Diese Modellflugzeuge heißen deshalb “Wiesenschleicher”.

non avendo trovato equivalenti in italiano (ma neanche in inglese), propongo (qualora non arrivassero suggerimenti più validi) di:
a) esplicitare il concetto con "volo lento e radente"
b) inventarsi un termine che renda l'idea, tipo quelli che ho postato (avevo pensato anche a "tosaerba", ma pare ci siano in giro aeromodelli effettivamente "travestiti" da tosaerba, per cui l'ho scartato in quanto potrebbe dare adito a malintesi)
c) magari anche entrambe le cose - un "nomignolo" di fantasia con la spiegazione a seguire
