Il me paraît difficile sans faire une périphrase qui serait imbuvable de garder l'image allemande. Je propose donc, puisque la fin de la phrase l'explicite : que les enfants accompagnent leurs parents sur leur poste de travail pour se familiariser sur le terrain avec la technique...
