L'expression me semble incongrue dans le contexte (que je reproduis in extenso pour donner une idee du ton du texte)

"Der Kampf, die schroffe Wendung gegen jeden, der von Aesthetik, auch im allein wissenschaftlichen Sinne, auch nur spricht, ** ist eine stimmungshafte Angelegenheit**: weil der aesthetische Snob zumeist wohl aus der Schicht des Adels oder des reichen Buergertums kam, identifizierte man nicht nur das Aesthetentum mit Buergerlichkeit (...), sondern auch die Aesthetik des Wissenschaftlers, ja ueber dessen vieilleicht auch noch buergerlich befangene THeorien hinaus die aesthetische Phaenomene an sich."
