That's just the problem: so many people use so many different terms, often incorrectly, e.g. your example: "synthetic eiderdowns". What's more, a quilt is a specific kind of duvet (one in which the contents are sealed into a number of pockets/cassettes to prevent everything sliding to one side). Unfortunately for me, this text was a *very* specific, specialist publication, so I couldn't be vague.
