wicked (epaulettes) Explanation: I understand Schulterpolster to be "epaulettes" rather than pads. Have a look at thiswickedjumpsuit featuring epaulettes! www.theoutnet.com/product/20122 And here's another one: http://www.warehouse.co.uk/fcp/product/fashion/Trousers-&-Ju... |

bitchin'! Explanation: A very round-about argument, based on guesswork: Since "zickig" can mean "unheimlich versnobt", überspannt, or launisch, which we may translate as "uptight" or (please to pardon the language) "bitchy", and since, colloquiallly, something fantastic, or attractive, or really, really, really "cool" may be described as "bitchin!", as in that new motorcycle has really "bitchin" handlebars, etc. the above German might be translated as: 1. really bitchin' shoulderpads! 2. really bitchin' epaulettes! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2009-05-23 00:34:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Again, for what it's worth: Here's a definition from Duden's "Szenensprache". Not exactly on target, but it might help you in coming up with a better translation. "bitchen" - Bezogen auf Frauen: Mit mehreren Männern herummachen. Oder: Zickig sein. In any event, the accepted spelling would seem to be "bitchen" and not "bitchin'" :-) http://szenesprachenwiki.de/words/advanced_search/?q=bitchen -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2009-05-23 00:35:36 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Also, from the same source: aufbitchen - beschreibt das übertriebene Styling mit viel Schminke und zu aufreizenden Klamotten. |

sassy Explanation: Bitchin' and wicked are pretty popular amongst 14-year-old snowboarders, so if that's your target audience, great. Be aware that "bitchin" is considered mildly offensive by quite a few people. Other options that might work for clothing: bold, cheeky, brazen, brassy, insolent, audacious (im Sinne von keck, frech). I'm also doubtful that these are epaulettes - I'm thinking more 80s-style shoulder pads - cheeky retro. |
