agree  Elisabeth Moser: I agree because in the US fabric by coupons would mean fabric coupons -- you can buy all and how much you want just apply the coupon to your bill -- therefore, I would also use remnants

Explanation:
yes, remnants is used, but my quilting friends usually speak of scraps of fabric / fabric scraps....so, adding this as another alternative.
