I just realized that was into French - maybe a native English speaker can comment on whether this would be understood in English as well or if it's a "false friend"

neutral  Armorel Young: Sorry, Sandra, but as you yourself point out that is a French word and it doesn't exist in English - if it did it would mean something like "impossible to cross" and wouldn't be applied to footwear, which (presumably) is being described here.
