locking ring Explanation: If I remember my sewing machines correctly, when taking the little steel bobbin out from the base of the machine, it was necessary to remove this item before you could take out the small bobbin; assuming this is what is meant, this is what I would call it. As to your "shelf of race": tell me, was the original translated from Chinese into English? The term makes no sense whatsoever. A "race" can indeed be a path along which a shuttle is passed back and forth, or a circular path e.g. for ball bearings; but I've never heard of a race having a shelf. It's JUST possible it means "ledge of the race", on which the "locking ring" might sit, but otherwise, I'm stumped... To go back to the start, you take out the steel spool/bobbin and clean out the "Greiferbahn", which is the recess which accepts the steel spool, and clean any threads off the locking ring, which you removed before taking the bobbin out. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 hrs (2006-07-01 11:39:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Having looked at the site, I am pretty sure the "shelf" should be "ledge" (or possibly "edge").
