German term or phrase: Wiener Naht
Hello all,

This is part of a description of a chef's/baker's jacket - apparently it has "Wiener-Nähte". I found a discussion on dict.cc which suggests "princess seams" (plus a few other things) http://forum.dict.cc/?pagenum=1982. Kudoz also seems to agree - found a German-French question on the same term. Would it be OK to use "princess seams" on what is quite likely to be a man's jacket?

Thanks a lot!

princess seam
Explanation:
This link http://www.dressking.com/search/glossary.htm defines princess seams as "Seams that can be found in the front or the back of a garment that create a form-fitting shape." I don't see any problem with calling them that, even if the garment is for a man. More importantly, none of the scant hits for "vienna/viennese seam" are even remotely convincing, and the images for "body seam" (all but one of them) paint quite a different picture for that.

Could it be that they are trying to make the traditional baker's jacket more appealing to women? But even if not, I believe that is the proper name for it, regardless of gender. Even the images for "Wiener Naht" show mostly women's clothing.

Hello all, and many thanks for the suggestions. I ended up going with "princess seams", because I was sure about it - googling didn't really substantiate either of the other two options, I am sorry.
