This pertains to the Y-BOCS scale for rating OCD. I know it means "rating by somebody else"--i.e., not the patient. But how do you say that in English psychologese? It could be "clinician rating," except that the person doing the test might not be a professional clinician, but an assistant of some sort.

Explanation:
That's what came to mind. I thought I'd share it with you.

People, when uncomfortable with a physician's diagnosis, tend to say; "I want a second opinion", mostly meaning another doctor, so how about "second opinion rating"?

On second thought, I believe "3rd party rating" sounds more appropriate.
It's the opinion of someone who is neither the patient (1st party) nor the clinician (2nd party) and leaves completely open whether the 3rd party is works in the medical field and/or is certified or not.

neutral  Armorel Young: it's simply a rating scale, so could easily be carried out by the clinician (your "2nd party") as part of the diagnostic process - so third parties (and second opinions) don't necessarily come into it

neutral  Armorel Young: why should "clinical assessment" be appropriate when the asker has already explained why "clinician rating" isn't?

agree  Craig Meulen: @Armorel: There is a difference between "clinician rating" (the rater is a clinician) and "clinical rating", which allows for a little more interpretation - could be a clinician, or just part of the clinic (assistant), we have to hope qualified to rate!!
