"In der Psychotherapie neurotisch erkrankter und ***frühgestörter*** Kinder und Erwachsener ermöglicht das basale, körperliche Erleben mit dem Pferd nachweislich heilende Selbst- und Beziehungserfahrungen."

My draft is:
"It has been demonstrated in the psychotherapy of neurotically diseased and ***frühgestörte***children and adults that basal, physical experience with horses contributes to curative experiences of self-awareness and relationships."

Is there an English equivalent for ***frühgestört*** or do we need to paraphrase it?

Frühgestörte Menschen erleben sich wie abgenabelt von der Liebe, die einfach liebt, vom Boden, der einfach trägt, von den Quellen der Lebenslust.
