Can anybody tell me the difference between Laken and Überschlagslaken? I'm translating "Laken" as "sheet" but I haven't got a clue about "Überschlagslaken"? Any ideas...? Many thanks in advance!

agree  Fantutti (X): Fitted sheet and "flat sheet" for Überschlagslaken. I'm sure about that. Imo, they're horrible, but that's what they use in hotels and motels.

Überschlagslaken

Explanation:
This is a heavy oversheet - but NOT a "top sheet", which is used for the sheet under the banket(s) on an English bed - which keeps the dust off the bed once it's made up. Used to be known as a "counterpane", a term which is "dated", according to Chambers 21st Century Dictionary.
The bedspread sometimes takes the form of a VERY thin quilt, but no matter what the material of which it is made, it is usually large enough to drape almost to the floor on either (i.e., BOTH) sides of the bed.
