I am translating a text on surgical techniques with Otoscopes, micro instruments and laser instruments.

The paragraph in question reads:

Bei der Resektion des vestibulären Neurinoms:
Beim subokzipitalen retrosigmoidalen Zugang befindet sich der Patient in Rückenlage. Die Exposition des inneren Gehörgangs, dessen Achse durch das *** AFB *** vorgegeben ist, erfordert das Fräsen seiner hinteren Wand. Die Knochenresektion, die mit Hilfe einer Diamantfräse von innen nach außen vorgenommen wird, endet in dem Moment, wo das Foramen singularis Morgani erreicht wird, welche den N. ampullaris posterior eindringen läßt.


I could imagine that the "FB" in "AFB" is "Felsenbein" (petrous portion of the temporal bone) but I am not sure at all.

agree  uyuni: Ein ganz vorsichtiges ;-))//Ja, habe ich gesehen. Aber können Weichteilstrukturen wie neuronales Gewebe die "Achse" einer knöchernen Formation "vorgeben". Evtl. nur etwas komischer O-Text. ;-))

agree  Anne Schulz: Nachdem auch das übrige Deutsch (und Latein) etwas merkwürdig ist, kann ja durchaus so etwas wie "die Achse, die dem Verlauf des AFB entspricht" gemeint sein. "Vorgeben" würde ja ansonsten eher der knöcherne Kanal den Verlauf des Bündels als umgekehrt :-(
