Nach dem Anmischen entsteht zunächst ein plastischer Teig, der als Verankerungsmedium in den Knochen eingebracht wird. Der dann im Knochen aushärtende Zement ermöglicht eine stabile Verankerung der Endoprothesen. Die beim Bewegungsablauf entstehenden Belastungskräfte werden großflächig über den Zementmantel auf den Knochen übertragen.
