  -> not quite: an integer is a "Ganzzahl" or in math terms the set Z, the "integer part" of a real number, however, is the non-decimal part of that number

This is a very widely used solution. An alternative would be to use 'whole numbers' and 'decimals', e.g '2 digits for whole numbers & 3 digits for decimals'.
