Verknüpfungen logical units (or links) Explanation: Meines Erachtens treffen 'logical units or links' ganz genau auf 'logische Verknüpfungen' zu, weil sich 'logical operations' auf die logischen Funktionen im allgemeinen beziehen. |

operator /connective Explanation: The terms "logical operator" and "logical connective" are used almost interchangably. According the references below, you would probably prefer the former in a mathematical context. Ref 1: "Mit Hilfe der logischen Verknüpfungen lassen sich in der Aussagenlogik aus einfacheren Aussagen kompliziertere Aussagen zusammensetzen." Ref 2: "In formal logic, logical connectives, also known as logical connectors and sometimes logical constants, serve to connect statements into more complicated compound statements. In algebraic logic, the more refined term logical operator is preferred." -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2006-03-13 07:20:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Note also that the correct term is "operator", not "operation", in the sense that an "operator" is used to perform an "operation". For example, the NOT operator is used to carry out the operation of negation. Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_connective Reference: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logische_Verknüpfung |
