I know this term from financial advisors. "Breitengschäft" refers to general savings schemes for widespread sale to private customers. The opposite would be specialised schemes for large and corporate investors. "Mass marketing" could fit the bill, even though I associate that term more with supermarket goods, highstreet fashion etc.
