I would say scarcity. It is about the economic problem of scarcity and infinite wants. In this case, labour is in short supply. By working more efficiently, the scarce economic resource of labour is used more economically.

Specialization and division of labour

"In large scale operations workers can do more specific tasks. With little training they can become very proficient in their task, this enables greater efficiency. A good example is an assembly line with many different jobs."

"The division of labour occurs where production is broken down into many separate tasks. Thus, it helps to reduce scarcity or the other way around use scarce resources more economically, which is the main task of an economic system.

I think scarcity is used more often than paucity. And since it cannot be really overcome, I would say "contribution to dealing with scarcity" or "reducing scarcity".
