In a job application:
"In meiner früheren Tätigkeit bei xxx habe ich als Mitglied der *Praxisgruppen* „YYY" und „ZZZ" das notwendige Handwerk über diese Industrien lernen können"
Seemingly simple notion, but what to call it?
Thanks in advance

Explanation:
Not knowing what field you are talking about it's a bit of a guess. I had "praxis" in a different context this morning and tried to avoid the literal translation of practice!

practice group

Explanation:
Generally used by management consultants to describe their specialist areas.

"Grant Lehman is a Consultant in the Finance & Operations Practice Group. He specializes in placing executives in the professional services area and has experience working with technology, financial, retail, legal and consulting practices. "

"David Krippene is a Consultant with The McCormick Group’s Real Estate practice group. He specializes in placing professionals in both the residential and commercial construction and property management markets. "

Given your information, I'm absolutely certain that he means "practice groups". At McKinsey they just call them "Practices", but practice groups is pretty standard consulting parlance.
