Head of Central Office Explanation: This is one of those German ranks they are so fond of that are effectively untranslateable. The "Hauptamt" will usually be a group of organisational units within local government and this bloke is their boss. Its not necessarily, but could be, an equivalent the the BrE "Central office " (as in Conservative Central Office) |
